Sr. Project Developer

A prominent renewable energy firm committed to advancing sustainable energy solutions is seeking a Senior Project Developer to join their dynamic team. Reporting to the Director of Development, this role will oversee the development of solar PV projects from inception to financial closure and initial construction phases. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in coordinating internal and external stakeholders to ensure the successful execution of projects, while also contributing to the company's growth initiatives. This position offers an exciting opportunity to be at the forefront of the energy transition, driving sustainable and impactful change in the industry.

Key responsibilities for this role will include (but not limited to):
• Lead project development efforts, managing schedules, budgets, and stakeholder coordination to achieve project objectives.
• Conduct real estate and title diligence processes, including negotiation of agreements to secure necessary permits and insurance.
• Manage zoning processes at county and/or state levels, representing the company in community meetings and government proceedings.
• Supervise site diligence activities, overseeing environmental studies and regulatory approvals.
• Assist in land acquisition efforts, working with internal teams to secure necessary land and easements.
• Support interconnection filings and studies with engineering specialists to meet project timelines.
• Contribute to the company's growth by identifying renewable energy opportunities and assessing acquisition risks.
• Aid in negotiating offtake contracts and supporting project finance activities.

Required and desired skillsets, experience and qualifications for this role:
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in developing utility-scale solar projects, preferably in the Midwest region.
• Proficiency in real estate contract terms and ability to extract key provisions from legal documents.
• Strong public speaking and interpersonal skills.
• Experience in managing teams or individuals.
• Willingness to travel 25-40% of the time.
• Ability to utilize Excel spreadsheets, create excel trackers, and be able to use Word and Powerpoint for reporting/presentations via teams or in person.
