Job description
Our purpose:

Naked Wines is revolutionizing the way we enjoy wine by connecting everyday wine drinkers with the world's best winemakers. Funding winemakers upfront gives us a chance to support independent producers without the stressors or costs of the three-tier system - and allows us to offer customers site-exclusive wines for a best-in-the-business price point, which unlocks a huge target market.

We are the largest direct-to-consumer online wine business in the USA, shipping over 1 million cases a year (!) with ambitious growth plans. Our global team is entrepreneurial by nature, obsessive about customer experience and performance-driven, which makes this a place where you will be inspired to grow personally as well as professionally.

Your Purpose:

Naked Wines is seeking a Staff Accountant to join the accounting team. As a key member of the Global Financial Services team, the Staff Accountant will perform various accounting functions including processing payroll, assisting in the preparation of month end close, preparing Journal Entries, and other accounting related processes. The right candidate for this role will be able to work within tight deadlines and drive continuous improvement to deliverables and processes. This position provides an opportunity for an ambitious and fast learning accounting team member to join a company where the accounting team acts as a critical partner in support of a growing organization.

To nail your job, you will:
• Accurately and successfully process bi-weekly payroll for US employees. (TriNet is our payroll provider)
• Take an active role in month-end, quarter-end and year-end closing procedures, including preparing journal entries, reconciling accrual accounts, and other accounting related processes
• Work directly with the Winemaking and Wine Planning teams to reconcile and accurately value the wine-related inventories including performing monthly reconciliations between Prepaid, WIP, and Cased inventories
• Assist the wine teams with standard cost implementations, storage reconciliations, and other ad-hoc requests as needed
• Manage the Company's fixed assets, including posting depreciation and annual counts
• Play a key role in the annual financial audit, performed by KPMG, as a subject matter expert on all inventory held on the balance sheet
• Collaborate with the internal audit team to develop, document, and implement scalable accounting processes ensuring SOX compliant controls
• Fully support and help drive initiatives to improve processes, create innovation, and help resolve cross-functional issues as part of the Global Financial Services team
• Support the development, maintenance, and adherence to accounting principles, practices, and procedures to ensure accurate and timely financial statements
• Day-to-day involvement and participation as a vital member of the US Accounting team

Requirements
• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting/Finance or a business-related field
• 1-3 years of relatable experience, can include time spent in a higher education course-year
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail

• Must be able to multitask, prioritize and work quickly/accurately under pressure
• Should be organized, goal oriented, energetic, team player and responsive
• Ability to act quickly, strategically, and decisively in fast-changing, unpredictable situations
• Ability to plan and meet deadlines
• This is a hybrid position that is based in either Napa, CA or Denver, CO. Must be able to go into the office 2-3 days per week

Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience in winery operations, as well as associated compliance issues, is a plus
• Experience processing payroll
• Advanced proficiency in MS Office (Outlook, Word & Excel)
