About the job

In this role, your work will include:
delivering structural capital and/or maintenance programs through in-house and consultant design
assisting in bridge inspection, planning studies, minor rehabilitation and modular bridge design
coordinating the biennial structural inspection program, underwater investigations, fatigue inspections and other enhanced inspections as required
preparing contract drawings and documents, conducting construction liaison and consultant supervision
liaising with external agencies
What you bring to the team

Mandatory Requirements:
You must have a valid class 'G' driver's licence or equivalent, as recognized by the Province of Ontario. The offer of employment is conditional upon the successful candidate providing proof that they have a valid driver's licence upon being hired.

Technical knowledge:
You have demonstrated knowledge of bridge engineering principles and related areas of structural planning and design, maintenance, bridge management, rehabilitation and construction.
You have proven knowledge of bridge inspection methods and equipment.
You have demonstrated knowledge of hydrology, road design, foundations, traffic, environmental issues and soils.
You are knowledgeable about the contract preparation and delivery process.
You have working knowledge and experience using AutoCAD and common office productivity applications.
Communication and interpersonal skills:
You have strong oral and written communication skills.
You have demonstrated interpersonal skills to work effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
You have the demonstrated ability to negotiate and resolve conflict.
Project management and technical administration:
You have demonstrated project management skills to act as project manager for structural projects.
You have experience with contract preparation and delivery processes.
You have knowledge of consultant acquisition processes and consultant legal agreements.
