Full job description

Quality engineering co-op position with emphasis on mechanical destructive testing.
During the time the co-op will be responsible for testing and reporting on the results from mechanical testing and using the core tools of quality to help with investigations into customer related and internal issues.
Skills preferred are a base understanding of measurement tools and devices, knowledge of the problem solving process and a strong understanding of Microsoft office and all programs that follow.
Goals & Objectives
The ideal candidate for this role would be self motivated and proficient at following instructions.
Be willing to show up on time and ready for work on days assigned.
Had classes or been versed in material testing in school.
Willing to be a part of a team and work to complete assignments by scheduled deadlines.
Duties and Responsibilities
Assist teams and foster involvement of all associates in lean practices and efforts.
Data collection, entry and analysis with improvement plans. May include, but not limited to productivity, total productive maintenance (TPM), downtime, scrap and change over initiatives.
Leads 5S efforts, including planning, implementing and supporting plant floor and maintenance activities.
Perform cycle time studies to create and validate production standards including standardized work.
Process layout and material flow.
Identify and implement cost and waste reduction activities.
Recommend improvement to the manufacturing process.
Assist quality lab in serial monitoring, failure analysis and support of quality related investigations
Qualifications
Must be a currently enrolled, degree seeking student from an accredited engineering program.
Strong written, verbal, analytical and interpersonal skills required.
Working knowledge of computer application software such as MS Office, MS Access, Minitab, AutoCAD, SAP (training will be provided if needed).
Ability and desire to work in a fast paced, manufacturing environment.
Must be able to work overtime when required.
Must be organized and work well with constantly priority changes.
Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision.
