Description:
The R&D Laboratory Technician will facilitate rapid prototyping and oversee preventive equipment maintenance, inventory management, data capture, and ensure a safe working environment. This role involves operating various small to mid-scale processing and analytical equipment, ordering supplies, maintaining lab documentation, labeling and shipping samples, and adhering to safety regulations.
Responsibilities:
* Operate small to mid-scale processing and analytical equipment for internal and external use.
* Order and restock ingredients, supplies, equipment, and chemicals.
* Maintain a safe, clean, and orderly lab environment.
* Ensure Standard Operating Procedures are created, stored, and used appropriately.
* Label and ship samples domestically and internationally.
* Maintain security and confidentiality of information within the research and development team.
Requirements:
* Manage a heavy workload with frequent changes.
* Understand basic food science and be willing to learn technical details.
* Assist in maintaining equipment in good sanitary conditions.
* Perform preventive maintenance on equipment.
* Adhere to GMP and other safety regulations.
* Demonstrate Company core values and Ferrara safety methods.
Preferred Qualifications:
* Confectionery or food manufacturing experience.
* Bachelor's or Associate degree (a plus but not required).
* Experience with Microsoft Office.
Working Conditions:
* Sitting/standing/walking for up to 8+ hours.
* Lifting up to 50 lbs.
* Exposure to hazards (hot surfaces, steam, chemicals, machinery, confined spaces, etc.).
