SUMMER PROGRAM SUPERVISOR – PLASP SUMMER PROGRAM


PLASP Child Care Services is a charitable organization operating on a not-for-profit basis, providing high quality early learning and childcare, for children up to 12 years of age. PLASP operates programs in more than 240 schools providing before and after school care. PLASP also operates 30 full-day early learning and childcare centres and six EarlyON locations for children from 0 – 6 years.


During 6 weeks in the summer, PLASP operates summer programs at some of its school locations throughout Peel and Toronto regions (7 weeks at St. Clement C.S.). Each Summer Program features indoor and outdoor activities, water play, crafts and special events. In addition, PLASP summer programs will focus on exploring the local community. Children will be involved in suggesting where they would like to explore in their local community. Staff will work with children to pick locations for outings to places such as trails and green spaces for picnic lunches and visiting spray pads.

THE POSITION INVOLVES…


The successful candidate will provide a range of duties including:

Enhance the variety of activities being offered in programs by using skills, talents and high energy to create memorable summer program experiences for children at PLASP
Establish and maintain a safe, warm and caring program environment
Assist with planning, developing and implanting stimulating activities for kindergarten to school aged children which promotes physical, social, emotional and intellectual well-being
Report to and maintain regular contact with the Site Director, Area Manager and Specialty Programs Team

THE PREFERRED CANDIDATE WILL HAVE …

A positive, sensitive and inclusive attitude towards working with children
Experience working with groups of children in recreational settings
Demonstrated leadership skills
A valid Standard First Aid Certificate with level C CPR
A valid Vulnerable Sector Criminal Reference Check within the last 6 months
Health requirements that are met in accordance with the Child Care Early Years Act and PLASP Personnel Policies
The ability to organize and implement recreational activities for school age children
Ability to communicate effectively with children, parents, school staff and co-workers
The ability to physically assist the children and are able to set up, move and carry program equipment
Demonstrated recreational skills or certifications an asset
