The Production Operator is an entry level position. The production operator role will be responsible for machine operations of Tissue Machine, OLP (Offline Printer), Rewinder, Stock Prep and Quality for Tissue Manufacturing. The role will be required to operate other machines in Tissue Manufacturing, such as overhead cranes, forklift trucks and roll wrappers. In this role you will be responsible to work alongside crew members to perform daily operator maintenance and housekeeping tasks.
The role is an Entry/Basic position with the opportunity to achieve Advanced skills for Production Operator in Tissue Manufacturing following the Paid for Progression (P4P) Matrix.
The Basic/Entry role will include a skills block requiring phased completion to demonstrate competency for each skill to operate or perform tasks. A panel pass review will be required to qualify you to operate or perform tasks at each level.
The role is rotational shift work-12 hour shifts
In this role, you will:
All duties assigned will have Work Instructions in POKA (online tool) for each of the jobs and skills development.
You will be required to be trained to comply with all safety operations for tissue manufacturing, including lock-outs for machinery, other equipment, and emergency stops.
Perform duties required for fire mitigation on the machines.
Perform duties required on the machines for unwind stands, crimper wheel, roll and slitter section, windup and shuttle cart.
Change out direct/indirect materials as required and refill adhering to the standards.
Perform quality checks for the different operations in accordance with the in-process quality checks.
Pull tissue wadding “broke”, perform blowdowns, and assist with roll changes as detailed in work instructions and standards.
Accurately record required machine data inputs as per work instructions into applicable platforms/systems.
Complete pre-inspection checklists as per work instructions/standards in compliance for safe operations of equipment.
Perform wash of the Tissue Machine as per work instructions.
Participate as a team member in fabric changes as per work instructions.
Wash TM with crew when there are no sheets and assist with fabric changes.
Load “broke” and pulp bales onto broke conveyor belt for main pulper.
Regular monitoring of screens for upcoming events on the tissue machine.
As required, provide additional support to unload rail cars, live loads when necessary for pulp.
Complete Workplace Inspections in Poka as assigned.
Responsible to maintain all regulatory training.
Follow daily Ways of Working with digital tools (POKA, Shiftboard/Schedule Pro, SAP, Pims, etc).
Adherence to Good Manufacturing Practice and Housekeeping standards.
Responsible to maintain timekeeping requirements (punch-in/outs on UKG system) for attendance and breaks.
Other duties as assigned by Crew Leaders, Asset Leader.

Must be 18 years of age or older and authorized to work in Canada.
High School Diploma or Equivalent, 3-5 years of Manufacturing Experience
Strong organizational, time management and communication skills
Competent Computer Skills to work with Digital Technology, Platforms and Enterprise Management Systems
Driver’s license in good standing
Fit to operate mobile equipment, forklift truck
Industrial environment (noise, dust, moving equipment, fluctuating temperatures etc.) May include prolonged periods of sitting (on forklift) and standing. Also includes bending, reaching, lifting and carrying up to 40 lbs, working at heights and in confined spaces. PPE Requirements will include safety shoes, hearing protection and other appropriate PPE as designated
Rotational Shift Work; 12-hour shifts (3 days, 3 days off, 3 nights), weekdays, and weekends.
