Tax Accountant | US

Overview of the role:

As a Tax Accountant your chief goal will be to recommend effective tax strategies that comply with laws and promote our company’s financial well-being. Your responsibilities will include preparing tax returns, analyzing tax regulations, monitoring industry trends, and completing tax reports. You are also responsible for aiding the clients during tax season by preparing tax forms and staying up to date with IRS laws and regulations. To excel in this role, you must demonstrate in-depth knowledge of accounting procedures and time management skills, as you’ll have to ensure our company meets strict deadlines. In addition to being an excellent communicator, our ideal candidate will also demonstrate keen attention to detail with excellent mathematical skills. Be first point of communication for client. Main objective is to achieve timely delivery of work to client with high accuracy.

Knowledge, Skills, Competencies and Responsibilities: - Technical Competency: -

• Prepare tax returns, payments, necessary paperwork, and reports.

• Prepare, complete, and file tax returns for individuals and companies.

• Maintain due dates for filing tax returns to ensure payments and filings are made timely.

• Assess and research difficult tax issues to identify solutions.

• Preparation of the T1 Personal Tax Returns.

• Assist clients with payroll, W-2’s, and 10++’s etc

• Employment tax ensure proper taxation and withholding in all employee jurisdictions, proper treatment of benefits related to W2/T4 reporting, and proper filing of employment returns (+41/State Unemployment)

• Prepare tax returns (1065s, 1120s, 1040s) and various tax documents.

• Determine tax savings and recommend strategies to improve profits.

• Ensure you comply with regulations by forwarding required information to federal, state, and local authorities.

• Offer support and guidance during audits.

• Evaluate tax regulations and suggest policies that diminish tax burden.

• Keep track of industry trends and changes related to taxes.

• Prepare accurate quarterly and annual tax reports

• Understand requirements from the Team Manager and Clients and provide effective solutions.

• Excellent understanding of US Accounting and Financial process (GAAP & FASB).

• Attend daily team meetings and provide valuable feedback and address any concerns.

• Effectively communicate all escalations to the supervisor.

• Resolve queries in a timely manner working around the established TATs (turnaround times).

• Strictly adhere to the SLAs (Service Level Agreements).

• Ability to work independently and provide support to colleagues as and when required.

Requirements

Qualifications and Experience:

• 2-5 years of work experience as a Tax Accountant.

• Associates degree or tax preparation training highly preferred.

• Excellent knowledge of accounting regulations and procedures (GAAP & FASB).

• Experience with preparation and analyzing financial statement reports, balance sheets, P&L's and ad hoc reports.

• Basic understanding of accounting and tax principles.

• Working knowledge on Quickbooks/Sage/Xero/Blackbaud (NXT)/Drake and MS-Excel.

• Experience with General Ledger functions.

• Experience with financial reporting requirements.

• Strong attention to detail and good analytical skills.

• A Bachelors or Master's in Commerce/ Accounting or Chartered Accountancy Intermediate or any finance related degree.

• Additional certification CPA or CMA is a plus
