Melbourne Girls Grammar is seeking a committed and passionate Teacher of Primary for our leading Wildfell Program (Years 5-6) who will play a vital role in creating flexible and engaging learning environments. This position is fixed-term starting from Term 2 and concluding at the end of Term 4. Our curriculum is rich and diverse with a strong emphasis on literacy and numeracy, developing fundamental skills for life. Our Learning Studios are flexible learning spaces designed for the 21st century learner.
The successful candidate will possess a deep understanding of contemporary pedagogical approaches for Primary Years learners, experience in developing Curriculum and enjoy working with colleagues to create productive learning environments that engage all students. Teamwork is an essential element of working in our collaborative studios.
As the successful candidate, you will work as an integral part of the Year 6 team, engaging in teaching and learning at both year levels. You will have expertise in Numeracy and Literacy and an ability to lead curriculum planning with a desire to promote contemporary and dynamic learning for Prep to Year 6 classes. You will have a strong knowledge of the wellbeing issues that surround adolescent girls, be confident to apply this knowledge in a range of situations, and be able to make strong, positive connections with your students.
The notebook computer and our LMS are an integral part of the teaching and learning process at our School and it is expected teaching and learning will incorporate their use along with other technologies available to you. Knowledge and implementation of a variety of online and multimedia programs to support student learning is critical.
Key Selection Criteria:
Teaching Qualifications & Registration: Undergraduate degree in the relevant teaching area and current Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT) registration.
Knowledge of Curriculum & Pedagogy: Strong understanding of curriculum, assessment, and reporting requirements, with the ability to apply contemporary teaching and learning strategies.
Student-Centred Approach: Ability to create engaging and inclusive learning environments that support students’ diverse learning needs, including literacy and numeracy development.
Use of Data & Assessment: Competence in using student data and a range of assessment strategies to inform teaching practice and improve student outcomes.
Commitment to Professional Learning: Willingness to engage in ongoing professional development and collaboration with colleagues to enhance teaching practice.
Technology Integration: Proficiency in using digital technologies to enhance teaching and learning, including platforms such as Microsoft Office 365, Synergetic, and SchoolBox.
Communication & Relationship Building: Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues while maintaining professionalism.
Child Safety & Wellbeing: Commitment to upholding child safety policies and ensuring a safe and supportive learning environment for all students.
Collaboration & Teamwork: Ability to work effectively as part of a team, contribute to professional networks, and support the school’s culture and values.
Commitment to Diversity & Inclusion: Understanding of and responsiveness to the needs of students from diverse cultural, linguistic, and socio-economic backgrounds.
