Teaching Assistant (SEN) - Secondary
Location: Newham, East LondonContract: Full-time, Permanent
We are looking for a caring and proactive SEN Teaching Assistant to join our secondary school in Newham. You will work closely with students aged 11-16 who have a range of special educational needs, providing both academic and emotional support in and outside the classroom.
Key Responsibilities
• Assist the class teacher in delivering differentiated lessons tailored to the needs of SEN students, including those with autism, learning difficulties, and physical disabilities.
• Support students on a 1:1 or small group basis, helping them with learning activities and promoting independence.
• Implement individualised support plans, behaviour management strategies, and interventions as directed by the SENCO.
• Monitor student progress and provide feedback to the teacher and SENCO, ensuring each child's needs are met.
• Assist in the preparation of learning materials and classroom resources.
Requirements
• Experience working with children or young adults with special educational needs, preferably in a school setting.
• A caring and patient attitude, with a strong ability to form positive relationships with students.
• Strong organisational and communication skills.
• A relevant qualification in child care or special educational needs would be an advantage.
