Responsibilities
Sunnova seeks an experienced Technical Accounting senior to be responsible for technical accounting research and documentation
Reporting to the Technical Accounting Manager, this individual is expected to research and develop technical memos, engage in discussions with external auditors, CAO and other company personnel to agree on conclusions, provide insight into financial reporting requirements for the topic and provide guidance to accounting staff on activities to execute documented treatment
In addition, this position will be responsible for cost-to-cost accounting for one of Sunnova’s business lines
Prepare the technical research and documentation around new products, new corporate equity and debt transactions, new business and asset acquisitions and dispositions and new accounting standards
Facilitate discussions with external auditors and third-party experts, as needed
Provide relevant input, as needed, on required disclosures and new reporting requirements from finalized research efforts
Safeguard assets and assure accurate and timely recording of all transactions by implementing disciplines of controls
Work with the Financial Reporting group to improve and issue timely monthly financial records for management, Board of Directors, banks, investors and the Securities and Exchange Commission, when needed
Assist in coordinating the provision of information to external auditors for the quarterly reviews and annual audits
Work with the Information Technology department and various finance and business groups to ascertain needed deliverables for new accounting activities
Lead the cost-to-cost accounting process, ensuring accurate revenue recognition and cost management
Prepare balance sheet account reconciliations
Analyze monthly results and perform variance/aging analysis
Prepare supporting schedules for possibly public and many non-public financial statements
Perform all related accounting functions required to maintain the general ledger in compliance with GAAP and company policy for accounts receivable and revenue entries, general accounting accruals, and other supporting entries for one of Sunnova’s business lines
Provide and track support for draws against credit facility for one of Sunnova’s business lines
Budgeting and financial projections for one of Sunnova’s business lines
Other duties as necessary

Requirements and Desired Skills
· Minimum of 3 years of accounting experience including public accounting
· An undergraduate degree with an accounting concentration is required
· CPA is required
· Strong proficiency in Excel and Word
· Impeccable integrity: words and actions must continually reinforce this characteristic
· A team player that has significant depth of knowledge and experience in US generally accepted accounting principles and who has a successful track record meeting deadlines, increasing efficiency, issue spotting and technical research
· Highly focused and committed leader who continually strives to excel and deliver superior performance
· Public accounting experience is required, with preference for Big 4
· Experience in renewable energy space is a plus
· Experience with Salesforce and FinancialForce is a plus
