Technical Designer (SF area onsite, +0-110K)
Job Summary:
The Technical Designer will assist with Designers to create detailed technical drawings, construction callouts, and measurement specifications for products using Adobe Illustrator and ultimately the PLM system. Experience fitting on a live model is required.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Work closely with designers and production team.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Create detailed technical flats and line guides, including intricate CAD work and construction details for review with Lead Designers.
- Prepare/create tech packages for Design and Technical teams, including construction details, front and back view sketches, fabrications, trim sheets, and critical measurements.
- Complete detailed technical sketches using Adobe Illustrator.
- Responsible for maintaining and updating BOMs (Bill of Materials) as well as making sketch and construction updates as needed.
- Prepare spec sheets for factories relative to sample details.
- Assist with the construction details of prototypes.
- Assist the Design Team in inspecting proto samples received from factories to ensure accurate adherence to tech pack instructions - calls out any issues found.
- Assist the Design Team in measuring samples in preparation for fittings.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Expertise in Adobe Illustrator software & computer-aided design (CAD) software.
- Experience fitting garments on a live model is necessary.
- Extensive knowledge of product construction techniques as well as fit requirements.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office or related software applications
.- Excellent communication skills & ability to collaborate effectively within a team environment
.- Strong attention to detail & ability to multitask efficiently in a fast-paced setting
.- Experience working with a PLM system is a plus
.- Working knowledge of fabrications/materials selection processes
.- Strong analytical & problem-solving abilities
Education and Experience:
Associate degree in Fashion Design or Technical Design.
5+ years of work experience as a production technician/technical designer required.
