Terminal Opener - Summer/Seasonal

CTA is currently seeking a Base Operations/Net Control to fill their seasonal, summer positions at the Pier +1 Smith Cove Cruise Terminal and at the Pier 66 Bell Street Pier Cruise Terminal.

SUMMARY
The Terminal Opener is responsible for both terminal and peripheral operations at either the Bell Street Pier Cruise Terminal (BSPCT), Pier 66 or the Smith Cove Cruise Terminal (SCCT), Pier +1. Cruise specific duties include pier delivery and traffic flow coordination, coordinating with ship's agent for passenger deliveries, and overseeing stevedore maintenance and accidental claims. Other duties may include traffic controlling in front of terminal and other needs as they arise. The primary responsibility of this position is to open/prepare the terminal for cruise operations.
The Terminal Opener will report to the Duty Manager as well as the Security Manager and Supervisor, and assist both as directed.
SCHEDULE/HOURS
Seasonal employment: April through October with some training in mid-March
Thursday - Tuesday at SCCT (and occasional Wednesday)
Saturday - Sunday at BSPCT (and some weekdays)
Hour varies by location
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Includes the following:
Cruise
- Open the terminal for security officers
- Assist with security sweep of facility
- Coordinate vessel deliveries with security
- Crowd control
- Other duties as assigned
Terminal
- Maintenance Log
- Facility walk-through and maintenance coordination
- Inventory and stock level maintenance
- Other duties as assigned
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
None
QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- Fast pace operational experience preferred
- Minimum high school diploma or equivalent
- Familiarity with computer and MS Office required
- Knowledge of other security and operations equipment helpful but not required
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Standing and walking for two-thirds or more of time on cruise operation days
- Must be available weekends or other non-business hours as required
- Commitment for entire cruise season required (April - October, some training in March)
- Ability to lift or carry up to 20 pounds
