Job Title: Therapeutic Support Worker

Location: Birmingham

Accountable To: Registered Manager, Deputy Manager, Team Leader, Senior TSW

Salary: Salary up to £32,500* (based on completing 10 sleep ins per month

Employment type: Permanent

Hours Per Week: Average 40 hours per week (2on, 4 off rota)

JOB SUMMARY: To provide the highest quality therapeutic care to children and young people with mental health, complex needs, some with Learning Disabilities. This is done by adopting a child centred approach that fosters self-awareness, personal growth and gives each person the strongest voice with regards to decision making and lifestyle choices. To support children and young people in achieving positive outcomes as outlined in their placement plans. To work as part of a staff team, under the supervision of team leaders and management.

• To know and follow all of Care Perspectives Care Services Limited’s policies and procedures.
• Be accountable for your own standard of practice.
• Fulfil sleep-in duties in accordance with the agreed rota

Main Duties
• To provide high quality care and support for children and young people in residential services and in the community.
• To identify and follow all policies and procedures including the Codes of Practice for social care, Children’s home regulations, including Quality Standards.
• To actively promote and take part in social, leisure, educational, life skills, holidays and other activities with children and young people.
• To support each young person to maintain a high standard of personal care; including ******** care, personal hygiene, health and ****** health needs and awareness and any mobility support that is needed.
• To support the medical health needs of children and young people, inclusive of medication administration, medical appointments and therapeutic and mental health and wellbeing needs.
• When required, take part in external reviews and meetings, and consult appropriately with professionals.
• Safeguard all Service Users within the Home and ensure their safety and wellbeing
• To contribute to the maintenance of cleanliness and Health and Safety standards by the completion of daily domestic tasks and record-keeping.
• To ensure regular attendance and contribute to team meetings, fully committing to joint decisions and continuous improvement of the service.

Experience
• Experience of work with autistic spectrum disorders, complex mental health disorders, learning disabilities, and emotional and behavioural difficulties and/or challenging behaviour
• Experience of work within a residential setting/educational setting
• Experience of working shift patterns

Qualification And Training
• Level 3 in Residential Childcare, Level 3 Diploma for the Children and Young People’s Workforce, or NVQ3 Health and Social Care (Children and Young People)
• Willingness to work towards further qualifications as required
• Undertake relevant induction training on commencement
• Driving licence (may be considered desirable at some service)
