We are seeking a skilled and experienced Tool and Die Maker to join our team. As a Tool and Die Maker, you will be responsible for creating, repairing, and maintaining various types of tools, dies, and fixtures used in the manufacturing process. This is a hands-on role that requires strong technical skills and attention to detail.
Duties:
- Read and interpret blueprints, sketches, or specifications to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished workpieces
- Set up and operate machine tools such as milling machines, lathes, grinders, and CNC machines to fabricate parts
- Use hand tools, such as files, scrapers, and reamers, to finish workpieces
- Inspect finished workpieces for conformance to specifications using precision measuring instruments
- Fit and assemble parts to make, repair, or modify dies, jigs, gauges, and tools
- Test completed tools or dies to ensure proper operation
- Troubleshoot issues with tools or dies and make necessary adjustments or repairs
- Collaborate with engineers and other team members to develop new tooling solutions
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical school or apprenticeship program in tool and die making preferred
- Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Tool and Die Maker in a manufacturing environment
- Proficient in the use of milling machines, lathes, grinders, CNC machines, and other machining equipment
- Strong knowledge of CAD software (such as SolidWorks) for designing tooling components
- Ability to weld and perform basic programming for CNC machines is a plus
- Excellent mathematical skills for interpreting blueprints and performing precise measurements
- Mechanical knowledge of tooling components and their functions
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot issues with tools or dies
