Responsibilities
Assigns and schedules work according to load
Creates documentation and communicates with supervisors on a daily basis
Trains and assists mechanics on methods for diagnosing and repairing vehicles and equipment
Schedules or assigns work to mechanics, PM mechanics, or other maintenance shop personnel
Coordinates and/or transports vehicles to outside service for repairs, as needed
Reads and interprets Electronic Vehicle Inspeection Reports ( EVIR ) and/or repair orders; communicates with supervisors and/or drivers for clarification of problems
Establishes work priorities at a shift level; distributes, tracks, and ensures work is performed in accordance with guidelines
Leads shift to perform above standards and inform management of fleet status
Tracks workflow in shop at a shift level using the SAP system and updates work orders as jobs change status
Completes paperwork associated with repairing vehicles, documents parts, usage, and accounts for applied times (work order times versus time card times)
Tracks, updates and reports status of vended assets on a daily basis
Diagnoses vehicle repair needs using engine analyzers/laptop and other automotive electronic diagnostic equipment
Operates all district vehicles to include but not limited to, buses, light fleet vehicles and all industrial equipment
Performs engine rebuilds and diesel fuel system diagnosis
Diagnoses, repairs, and adjusts all types of mechanical systems and assists in the training and development of shop personnel
Follows all HISD safety policies and procedures
Repairs and/or replaces brakes, engines, transmissions, clutches, rear axle assemblies, suspension and steering components, radiators, air conditioners,fuel systems, exhaust systems, vehicle electrical systems, and other components on gasoline and diesel powered vehicles
Performs detailed electronic engine and drive train diagnosis using handheld scanners and laptop computers
Operates special shop equipment such as disc and drum brake lathes, front end alignment machines, tire mounting equipment, A/C recovery system, state inspection equipment, and IC/CAT/IDS Ford software systems on laptops and handheld scanners
Operates service vehicles to include tire truck, service truck and heavy wrecker as required
Performs maintenance work on road service calls including general towing, extrication, recoveries, accidents, jump starting batteries, changing flat tires, fuel delivery, and general trouble-shooting of disabled vehicles
Performs other job-related duties as assigned
Regularly provides project management or team leadership to a group of two or more employees, but has limited formal supervisory responsibility

JOB SUMMARY
