Assists in planting, pruning, shearing and general maintenance or repair of landscapes associated with project work
Treats stumps and hand-loads dump trucks
Performs a variety of manual labor tasks associated with the forestry and roads operations such as handling asphalt by shovel and rake, cleaning ditch lines and culverts, roadside brushing, sweeping and traffic flagging
Physical Effort: The incumbent is required to use heavy physical effort to operate chain saws, and to move logs, brush, etc
Frequent lifting and moving objects weighing up to 75 pounds is required while loading trucks, handling equipment, moving limbs, etc
The work performed frequently involves standing for long periods of time, walking long distances in difficult terrain, bending, stooping, climbing, lifting and working in awkward positions/environments
Working Conditions: Work is performed outside in a variety of vegetation types, elevations and conditions
Work is occasionally performed in bad weather and often in extreme temperatures
Special care must be taken when operating equipment
The incumbent is continually exposed to dirt, saw dust, petroleum products, falling limbs/trees, etc
To reduce the dangers from these conditions, the incumbent follows prescribed safety practices and uses safety equipment
