Job Description

Kia ora! Hummingbird is gearing up to reopen and we're on the hunt for a talented Venue Manager to lead our bar, restaurant, and function room in Courtenay Place, Wellington. With a strong focus on delivering exceptional Kiwi hospitality, we’re looking for someone who knows how to create a welcoming atmosphere where locals and visitors alike can enjoy great food, drinks, and memorable events.



Key Responsibilities:

Lead the Team: Recruit, train, and manage a passionate team, ensuring they deliver top-notch service with a smile.
Operational Excellence: Oversee the day-to-day running of the bar, restaurant, and function room, ensuring everything runs like clockwork.
Financial Management: Take charge of budgets, financial reports, and cost control, driving the business towards profitability.
Customer Experience: Make sure every guest leaves with a positive experience, maintaining high standards of service and hospitality.
Event Management: Coordinate and oversee events and functions, ensuring they’re executed to perfection.
Compliance: Ensure all operations comply with New Zealand’s health, safety, and licensing regulations.
Community Engagement: Build strong relationships with the local community, positioning our venue as a go-to spot for great food, drinks, and social gatherings.


Qualifications:

Proven experience as a Venue Manager in hospitality, preferably in a New Zealand bar, restaurant, or function venue.
Strong leadership skills with the ability to build and motivate a team.
Excellent customer service and communication skills.
Experience in financial management and budgeting.
Knowledge of food, beverage, and event trends in the New Zealand market.
Understanding of New Zealand’s licensing, health, and safety regulations.
Ability to juggle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
