Maloka is a venture studio building innovative and premium lifestyle brands.We are looking for an experienced Video Editor who can transform raw footage into captivating stories. Your primary role will be editing, but knowledge of videography, including camera operation and lighting setup, is preferred to support our team during shoots when needed.

Job Description:

As a Video Editor, you’ll handle the complete post-production process, from organising footage to applying advanced colour grading and sound design. You will work closely with the creative team to ensure each video aligns with Maloka’s brand standards, enhancing storytelling through professional editing techniques. Familiarity with videography is preferred to assist during production, adding value through camera operation and lighting support.

Key Responsibilities:

Edit Raw Footage: Review and edit raw video clips to create engaging, high-quality final products, following project specifications and brand guidelines.

Develop Story Flow: Work with the creative team to understand the project vision and structure the video’s narrative to maintain flow and engagement.

Add Graphics and Effects: Incorporate graphics, animations, and special effects to enhance storytelling, using software like Adobe After Effects or similar tools.

Color Grading and Correction: Adjust colour tones, lighting, and contrast to ensure visual consistency and aesthetic appeal.

Sound Editing: Sync and edit audio, including dialogue, sound effects, and background music, ensuring clear and balanced audio levels.

Format and Resize for Platforms: Edit videos in various formats and resolutions to meet platform-specific requirements, such as social media, websites, or email campaigns.

Collaborate with Creative Teams: Work closely with videographers, producers, and marketing teams to align on project goals, provide feedback, and implement revisions.

Optimise for Engagement: Implement editing techniques that maximise viewer engagement, focusing on pacing, transitions, and visual appeal.

Stay Updated on Trends and Techniques: Continuously research and apply new editing trends, tools, and techniques to keep video content fresh and relevant.

Organise and Archive Files: Maintain an organised system for storing and archiving video assets to ensure efficient workflow and easy access for future use.

Skills:
• Editing Mastery: Strong understanding of video editing techniques, including pacing, transitions, visual effects, colour grading, and storytelling.
• Sound Editing: Proficiency in adjusting and balancing audio, integrating sound effects, and syncing audio with visuals.
• Attention to Detail: Keen eye for visual consistency, timing, and quality control to produce polished final products.
• Creativity and Storytelling: Ability to turn creative concepts into engaging video content, enhancing brand narrative and viewer experience.
• Time Management: Strong organisational and time-management skills to handle multiple projects, meet deadlines, and work in a fast-paced environment.
• Collaboration: Excellent communication skills and the ability to work closely with team members, including videographers, designers, and marketing professionals.
• Adaptability: Ability to adapt to feedback and make revisions quickly, with a flexible approach to creative direction.
• Trend Awareness: Knowledge of current video and social media trends, with a desire to innovate and experiment with new techniques.
• File Management: Strong organisational skills for maintaining an efficient file structure and archiving projects for easy future reference.
• Problem Solving: Ability to troubleshoot and solve technical issues related to software, equipment, or project requirements.

Requirements:
• Experience: Proven experience as a Video Editor, preferably in a creative agency, production studio, or similar environment.
• Portfolio: Strong portfolio showcasing previous video editing work across different formats and styles.
• Software Proficiency: Expertise in video editing software such as Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, DaVinci Resolve, After Effects, or similar tools.
• Platform Knowledge: Understanding of platform-specific requirements and trends, particularly for social media (YouTube, Instagram, TikTok) and digital marketing channels.
