Overview:
We are looking for a highly skilled and motivated Visual Studio Plugin Developer to join our team. This role requires an individual with a strong background in plugin development, especially with a focus on Visual Studio Code, JavaScript, TypeScript, Java, and associated tools like GitHub Copilot and Gradle. The ideal candidate will be capable of working independently and collaboratively in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
• Develop, maintain, and optimize Visual Studio Code plugins/extensions that enhance development workflows.
• Work with the VS Code Extension API to build new features and improve existing functionalities of the plugin.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement software solutions.
• Integrate and extend GitHub Copilot functionality within Visual Studio Code for improved coding efficiency.
• Leverage Gradle for automation and build processes to ensure smooth development cycles.
• Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code, following best practices.
• Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve issues related to plugins, integration, and development environments.
• Regularly test and ensure the plugin works seamlessly across multiple platforms and environments.
• Document the plugin's functionality, installation processes, and usage instructions.
• Participate in code reviews and contribute to a culture of quality software development.
Requirements:
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• Experience: 3 to 4 years of hands-on software development experience, with a strong focus on plugin development for Visual Studio Code.
• Technical Skills:
• Proficiency in JavaScript, TypeScript, and Java.
• In-depth experience with Visual Studio Code, including plugin development.
• Familiarity with VS Code Extension API and related plugin frameworks.
• Knowledge of GitHub Copilot and its underlying technologies is a plus.
• Experience working with Gradle for build automation.
• Strong problem-solving and debugging skills.
• Ability to work both independently and in a collaborative team environment.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to document processes and workflows effectively.
Desired Skills:
• Familiarity with modern version control systems, especially Git.
• Understanding of continuous integration and deployment pipelines.
• Exposure to agile methodologies and the ability to work in short iteration cycles.
• Knowledge of unit testing frameworks and their use in plugin development.
