About the Opportunity

The District Council of Robe is seeking a part-time (0.6 FTE) Work Health Safety (WHS) Officer to join our team in Robe, South Australia.

If you are seeking a full-time position, we can incorporate Records Officer responsibilities (0.4 FTE) for candidates with strong administrative skills and a willingness to learn.

As our WHS Officer, you will play a key role in promoting a positive safety culture and ensuring compliance with health and safety legislation across the organisation. Reporting to the Director of Corporate Services, you will provide expert WHS advice, implement effective safety systems, and support staff, volunteers, and council members to enhance the organisation’s safety culture and wellbeing outcomes.

In addition to WHS responsibilities, candidates seeking full-time work will also support the administration of council records as a Records Officer. This is a fantastic opportunity for those with strong organisational skills and an eagerness to grow, as we will provide comprehensive training and development in records management.

About You

To qualify, you will need a minimum of a Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety. A minimum of 2 years experience in a WHS or related role will also be essential.

Additionally, the following skills and background will be highly valued:

Knowledge of WHS legislation and the Return to Work Act
Proficiency in Skytrust (or similar safety management tools)
Strong research, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
Mental Health First Aid certification
Local government experience is highly regarded but not essential
