Job Description
The Youth Education Programs Coordinator will be part of a team that oversees the Guide to High School program, which supports Grade 7 students as they transition from elementary to high school. The coordinator will support the program by working with community partners to engage and support program volunteers, recruit program participants, facilitate and deliver the program, and coordinate the delivery of programs within schools.
What you’ll be doing:
25% of role: Coordinating the delivery of programs within schools.
Participant recruitment
Facilitate the Guide to High School program
25% of role: Supporting Program Volunteers
Volunteer recruitment
Screening and database management
Coaching and training volunteers
Running appreciation events
50% of role: Administrative Duties
Create and update program curriculum and collateral materials
Support the evaluation of the youth programs by conducting debrief sessions and focus groups, as well as collecting, collating and analyzing post-program surveys
Providing general office administrative support including preparation of program materials for training and workshops, database management, participant registration and application processing
Responsible for communication with parents/guardians and school contacts.
Other duties as required
What you’ll need:
University degree or equivalent and/or transferable experience in social work, youth work, social sciences, education or relevant field
Valid BC driver’s license and clean driving record required. Must be comfortable driving to Surrey, Richmond, Vancouver, and Burnaby. Access to a vehicle is an asset but not required as we use car share.
Current Emergency First Aid and CPR Certification
Knowledge of the theory, principles and practices in the areas of mentoring, education, youth development.
Strong commitment to work in gender inclusion, anti-racism, and Truth and Reconciliation
Experience working with and facilitating groups of youth between the ages of 12-13
Comfort with being a leader to volunteers and/or staff
Experience in community program settings such as schools or community centres
Strong communication and teamwork skills
Organized, self-driven, ability to multi-task, manage competing priorities and strong leadership skills
Strong office administration skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, Forms). Experience in Canva an asset.
A valid clear criminal record check (including working with vulnerable populations) is required.
Bonus qualities (but not required)
Knowledge of and experience with the YWCA’s Guide to High School program is an asset
