Full job description
We are looking for a meticulous and well-organised Accountant to join our finance team. In this role, you will handle financial transactions, prepare accurate financial reports, support budgeting and forecasting activities, and ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical abilities, a solid understanding of accounting principles, and experience working with accounting software.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and maintain financial records, reports, and statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards (GAAP/IFRS).
- Reconcile bank statements and general ledger accounts to maintain financial accuracy and integrity.
- Manage supplier accounts, process invoices and payments, and ensure timely reimbursements.
- Track outstanding receivables, follow up on overdue payments, and support cash flow management.
- Prepare and file tax returns, VAT/BAS, and other statutory filings while ensuring compliance with local tax regulations.
- Assist in budgeting, cost control, and financial forecasting to support business planning and decision-making.
- Process payroll accurately and on time, while maintaining employee expense reports and reimbursements.
- Support audits by liaising with external auditors and ensuring financial records are audit-ready.
Other Duties:
- Maintain financial documentation and records for internal and external audits.
- Support financial system improvements and process automation.
- Assist in financial risk assessment and internal controls implementation.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Experience: Experience in accounting or finance roles.
- Certifications: ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent certification (preferred but not mandatory).
Skills:
- Proficiency in accounting software (Xero, QuickBooks, Sage, MYOB, SAP, or similar).
- Strong knowledge of financial regulations and tax compliance.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organisational skills.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
