Qualifications For The Director Of Accounting
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance
CPA Welcomed
Minimum 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or managerial role
Experience in a manufacturing environment, with strong knowledge of cost accounting principles and inventory management
Proven track record of leading successful accounting teams and managing complex financial processes
Knowledge of SOX compliance and internal controls
Responsibilities
As the Director of Accounting, you will play a crucial role in overseeing the financial operations and reporting for our manufacturing organization
Reporting directly to the VP, you will lead a team responsible for ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance in all accounting functions
This position requires a deep understanding of accounting principles, manufacturing cost accounting, and regulatory requirements within a publicly traded company environment
Key Responsibilities Of The Director Of Accounting
Financial Reporting and Compliance:
Prepare and analyze financial statements in compliance with GAAP and company policies
Ensure accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting
Coordinate with external auditors and oversee the audit process
Manufacturing Cost Accounting:
Manage the cost accounting system, including standard costing, variance analysis, and inventory valuation
Provide insights into manufacturing efficiencies and cost-saving opportunities
Ensure accurate and timely product costing for new and existing products
Team Leadership and Development:
Lead and develop a high-performing accounting team
Provide mentorship, guidance, and training to staff to foster professional growth
Foster a collaborative and supportive work environment
Financial Controls and Processes:
Establish and maintain financial controls and procedures to ensure compliance and mitigate risks
Implement best practices for financial operations and accounting systems
Continuously improve processes to enhance efficiency and accuracy
Strategic Financial Analysis:
Support strategic initiatives and decision-making through financial analysis and modeling
Provide insights and recommendations to senior management based on financial data
Regulatory Compliance:
Ensure compliance with all local, state, federal, and international financial regulations
Stay updated on changes in accounting standards and regulations affecting the manufacturing industry
