Job Summary
The Team
The Provincial Stewardship Strategies and Planning Branch (PSSP) provides leadership and direction in the development and implementation of integrated land stewardship to guide land use decisions. The Branch is accountable to provide direction and advise on conservation and protected areas, advancing recommendations made through the old growth strategic review, aligning and coordinating planning and stewardship interests within the natural resource sector, and developing programs in partnership with Indigenous Nations.

Provincial Initiatives leads policy development, implementation guidance and coordination for key components of stewardship and conservation interests within the natural resource sector, including 30x30 and IPCA, that are critical to the achievement of priority goals and objectives.

The Role
The Policy Analyst works independently to manage assigned projects and in a team managing assigned tasks that are focused on aspects of policy, procedures and legislation for Provincial Initiatives, including for conservation and stewardship and integrated land use policies related to various priorities such as 30x30, IPCAs and land use planning.

This position will work closely with teams both within the Branch and across the natural resource sector building and maintaining productive working relationships. Providing briefings, presentations and practicing conveying, sometimes complex or comprehensive, information to a variety of audiences is foundational to this position. The role will provide considerable opportunities for in developing both internal and external policy and guidance for a wide range of technical and non-technical use.

Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree (or higher) in natural resource management, business administration, public administration, or a related field. An equivalent combination of related education and experience may be considered.
Experience managing projects and/or project components.
Experience in researching policy issues and conducting policy analysis which may include policy application, assessment and / or development.
Preference may be given to those with the following:

Experience in natural resource management.
Experience in engaging and collaborating with First Nations.
Experience with application of legislation, policies and procedures governing natural resources.
Experience working with diverse teams in multiple locations.

About this Position:
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to 5 days at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement.
This is for one (1) permanent opportunity.
