About the opportunity | Ngā whakamārama mō te tūnga

The Crown Entity Monitoring team is one of five teams within the Investment and Monitoring Group. The purpose of the team is to be the Ministry’s lead adviser in supporting the Minister of Transport to oversee and manage the Crown’s interests in, and relationship with four Crown entities:


New Zealand Transport Agency, Waka Kotahi,
Maritime New Zealand,
Civil Aviation Authority, and
Transport Accident Investigation Commission
The team also advises the Minister on the board appointments and fees for the four Crown entities, as well as bespoke Crown companies such as City Rail Link (CRL) Ltd.

As our Adviser you will provide and contribute to high quality, well-researched and reasoned advice on entity performance, contribute to advice on delivery and system issues that impact entity performance, and support Board appointments.

Based on the work or support that may be required, this position is Wellington based only.


What you’ll bring | Te wāhi ki a koe

You will bring commercial experience, and:

Experience in Crown Entity Monitoring, policy development, performance management or other experience that would deliver impact in the role
Experience in the provision of briefing papers and writing ministerial correspondence would be an advantage
Strong numerical ability - financial analysis an advantage
Excellent writing skills
Strong relationship skills
Experience in managing and delivery projects
A grasp of corporate governance will also be an advantage.

Salary range | Whānuitanga Utu ā-Tau

The base salary band for this position is 16, with a salary range of is $90,791 – $120,504 (mid point $100,420) per annum + KiwiSaver. The salary offered will reflect skills and experience.
