Afterschool Teacher (Grades 1-8)

Responsibilities:

Teach small group classes and private lessons to students in grades 1-8, focusing on improving reading, writing, vocabulary, grammar and math skills.
Develop personalized lesson plans tailored to students' individual needs and academic levels.
Utilize engaging teaching methods to help students improve their language and math abilities and build confidence.
Timely mark homework provides feedback and guidance to students to support their learning progress.
Foster a positive and encouraging classroom atmosphere that motivates students to learn and succeed.

Requirements:

Strong subject knowledge: Proficient in English language/math concepts and able to effectively teach.
Strong background in English literature: Must have excellent knowledge of English literature and be a graduate with a degree in a literature-related field.
Caring and patient: Must enjoy working with young students and be committed to their academic and personal growth.
Class management skills: Strong classroom management skills are essential to create a productive learning environment in small group settings.
Personalized instruction: Ability to adapt teaching styles to suit the learning needs of different students and offer customized tutoring.
Team player: Willing to collaborate with other teachers and staff, and be flexible to assist with additional teaching responsibilities as needed.
Adaptability: Capable of adjusting to new teaching methods, learning tools, and evolving educational requirements.
Must have strong communication skills to effectively engage with students and parents.
Ability to foster a positive, motivating, and supportive learning atmosphere.
Knowledge of the Ontario curriculum and student evaluation methodology
Previous teaching or tutoring experience is preferred

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $18.04-$38.21 per hour
