The Role
Military Police Central Records Office (MPCRO) is seeking an enthusiastic individual who has a can do attitude and is able to work within legislative frameworks to support government policy and development, while supporting Defence’s mission.

In this role you will:

Manage Military Police records, both physical and electronic, including digitisation.
Conduct research across a number of databases and systems, including Objective and the Defence Enterprise Case Management System (DECMS).
Working within legislation such as the Archives Act 1+83, Privacy Act 1+82, Freedom of Information Act 1+82 to appropriately manage, store, share and release information, including security classified information.
Responding to requests for Military Police information from a range of internal and external stakeholders.

Please note, as part of this role you will be exposed to objectionable and confronting material on a daily basis. Joint Military Police Unit (JMPU), and Defence more broadly, has a number of policies and support options in place to assist individuals working regularly with this content. This is a requirement of the role and should be taken into consideration when deciding if this is the right role for you.

About our Team
The JMPU conducts specialist military policing from 26 Defence base locations, nationwide and overseas. Offering support to the civilian police and the general community in Defence related matters.

These positions will give the successful applicant the opportunity to work in a records management team which is integrated within a Military Police environment. Within JMPU, the Knowledge and Intelligence (K&I) Directorate is responsible for providing intelligence products and information management support to the policing aspects of JMPU.

Within K&I, the MPCRO is a team of records management specialists who provide support to Military Police and a range of stakeholders to obtain and release information for a variety of purposes. MPCRO receives approximately 6000 requests for information each year.

To be successful in this role, the ideal candidate will:
Be capable of working in a diverse team.
Have a good level of computer literacy.
Have high level organisational skills, self-drive and initiative to achieve tasks and business objectives.
Have experience with databases and an eDRMS, preferably Objective and SAP.
Communicate effectively with a range of internal and external stakeholders, both verbally and in writing.
Understand and manage competing priorities, and adjust when urgent requests arise.
Have knowledge of, or the ability to learn about records management policies, procedures and guidelines.
Have experience working in a records management environment or similar (desirable).
Have relevant tertiary qualifications (desirable).
Records management training can be provided.
Experience using Auslan and/or Auslan qualifications will be highly regarded.
