Aboutthe team

This role is part of the Parks and Open Spaces team – Arboriculture area. The Arboriculture team is responsible for the management, administration, and initiatives of all City tree assets and the growth and retention of the Urban Forest. We are high-performing, innovative and a driven team of Arboriculturists who value each other’s skills, knowledge and experience to support and benefit the City of Gold Coast’s tree assets.

About your new role

Our team is growing, and this role is an important part of our team. You will have the opportunity to continue with rewarding proactive tree health projects and undertake inspections and assessments on our unique tree assets. Roles and responsibilities include (but not limited to):

Manage, plan and program proactive and innovative tree health programs.
Undertake arboriculture studies, trials, and research with external bodies.
Review independent arboriculture reports.
Process tree removal/pruning applications.
Experience in managing proactive tree health programs.
Provide Tree Impact Assessments for internal stakeholders.
Working with internal and external stakeholders to facilitate good outcomes for trees and project delivery by assessing plans, attending on site/online meetings, and providing specialist arboriculture input for incorporation into project documentation.
Providing expert technical tree advice on escalated tree issues.
Managing an operational budget for projects and programs.
We're looking for people who have:

A high level of oral and written communication skills.
Expert negotiation skills.
Ability to work with internal and external stakeholders to gain buy-in to projects and initiatives.
Ability to work well in a high performing team as well as work alone and meet time frames.
Strategic mindset and the ability to link team actions to the corporate vision and strategic objectives.
Extensive demonstrated experience in leadership and management.
A Diploma of Arboriculture.

Please Note. The salary range is between $+3,500 - $10+,503 per annum plus superannuation.
