Join The Chamber of Minerals and Energy of WA (CME) as our new Assistant Director – Projects.
CME is seeking a strategic leader with a forward-thinking mindset to take on a key role within our Policy and Advocacy portfolio.
As the Assistant Director - Projects, you will drive the successful delivery of key projects, engage with a diverse variety of stakeholders, and navigate a range of competing priorities. This role also provides strategic oversight to CME’s Regional Policy and Advocacy portfolio.
This opportunity to make a meaningful impact on CME, our members, and WA’s resource sector is on a full-time, 12-month fixed-term contract.
About the role
Manage projects within the Policy and Advocacy portfolio from planning to execution, ensuring timely delivery and within budget.
Provide strategic oversight and support to the Industry Training Council (ITC) team in accordance with CME’s Tender for the provision of the ITC services to the Department of Training and Workforce Development.
Manage Verisafe's transition from a program delivered within CME into a new corporate structure in close consultation with the Verisafe Governance Group and other key stakeholders, ensuring Verisafe members are consulted through the transition.
Oversee and contribute to workforce development and skills and training issues within the resource sector.
Build and maintain sustainable stakeholder relationships with the Department of Training and Workforce Development, the State Training Board, the State Government, Government agencies, the ITC Advisory Board, industry contacts, national skills bodies, and within CME.
Provide strategic oversight to the Regional Policy and Advocacy portfolio and foster alignment and information exchange between the Regional and metro Policy and Advocacy teams, including in support of projects and task delivery, and the achievement of agreed milestones and outcomes.
Establish effective measures to track project progress and performance.
Prepare and presents reports to CME senior management and relevant external stakeholders.
Contribute and stay abreast of key priorities being pursued through the Policy and Advocacy team, as well as relevant legislative, regulatory, and general issues affecting the WA sector.
About you
A minimum of 10 years of relevant project management experience, ideally in the resource sector.
Tertiary qualification in project management, business administration, or a related field.
Expertise in the WA resources sector and other relevant industries.
Experience in policy, advocacy, or communication would be advantageous.
Detailed understanding of state and federal government policy development processes.
Strong organisational skills and multitasking abilities with proven project management skills.
Advanced written and verbal communication to enable effective consultations, negotiations, change management and report writing.
Financially astute with a proven track record of developing and managing budgets.
Strong data analysis skills and the ability to synthesise information and data and present it in a logical and organised way.
Proven leadership and managerial experience, including coaching and mentoring employees.
Ability to work independently and take initiative, as well as the ability to participate as an effective team leader and team member.
Strategically focused, results oriented and self-motivated with a high level of initiative and energy.
Valid WA driver’s licence.
