Assistant QA Engineer / Permanent / Salary up to £28,000

Position 1 Recruitment is seeking an experienced QA Engineer to join a reputable engineering manufacturing company specialising in control systems and heating systems.
The QA Engineer will support the QHSE function by ensuring products, processes, and suppliers comply with applicable quality standards, regulatory requirements, and customer specifications. The role involves close collaboration with engineering, production, procurement, and suppliers to drive continuous improvement across quality performance.
Key Responsibilities
• Follow up on Supplier Corrective Action Reports to ensure timely responses and actions, helping improve supply chain performance.
• Identify, document, and resolve Nonconformities and customer complaints, capturing data for analysis and supporting Root Cause Analysis as needed.
• Assist the QA Manager with ASME BPVC Section II compliance checks for received goods and coordinate with suppliers and stakeholders.
• Support data collection and trend analysis of finished goods punch lists.
• Participate in internal audits and weekly QHSE tours.
• Assist the Procurement team with new vendor assessments and monitor ongoing supplier performance.
• Provide administrative support to the QHSE department, including updating procedures and instructions.
• Prepare key project QHSE documents such as ITPs, Quality Plans, and Ex component certification dossiers.
• Help maintain the equipment calibration system with QA & QC Managers.
• Support the Welding Coordinator by updating welding prolongation records.
• Maintain the external standards library, ensuring key standards are procured and up to date.
• Offer guidance on QHSE matters to colleagues and help ensure tasks and objectives are completed.
• Liaise with Engineers, Production Supervisors, and production teams to resolve issues with heater bundles, control panels, and pressure vessels.
Skills & Experience Required
• knowledge / experience of the inspection of electrical / mechanical products within an Oil and Gas/ Petro-chemical / Pharmaceutical environment,
• an ability to read engineering drawings, and
• Understanding / knowledge of ISO 9001, ATEX / IECEx, ASME & PED standards.
