About The Position
We are looking for an experienced lawyer with 5+ years of expertise in contract management including but not limited to review, negotiate, redline various types of contracts and experienced in data protection laws to ensure compliance with global and regional privacy regulations, including GDPR and the India Digital Data Privacy Bill.
Key Responsibilities
Work closely with legal, compliance, IT, and security teams to manage data privacy initiatives. Lead the implementation of privacy policies and risk mitigation strategies. Independently draft, review and negotiate DPAs, Standard contractual clauses and other relevant data protection documents. Drafting, review, negotiation, and finalization of business agreements (vendor contracts, NDA, MOUs, Marketing agreements, collaboration agreements, admin agreements, employment contracts, business support agreements, loan agreements etc.) lease deeds, affidavits, POA and all forms of legal arrangements. Ensure contracts align with legal standards and company policies. Provide analysis of contractual obligations and risks associated in a given contract.
Program Management
Oversee the company’s global privacy program, ensuring adherence to privacy laws and internal policies. Lead the execution of the India Digital Data Privacy Bill.
Compliance Monitoring
Establish frameworks for ongoing monitoring of privacy compliance including but not limited to setting up end to end framework for Controller and Processor in an organization. Review and update privacy policies regularly, ensuring compliance with audits and regulations.
Incident Response
Lead responses to data breaches, privacy complaints, and access requests. Assist with data breach notification and remediation processes.
Training and Awareness
Conduct privacy awareness programs and training for employees from time to time.
Internal Audit
Plan and execute internal audits to assess operational efficiency. Identify areas for process improvement and risk mitigation. Produce comprehensive audit reports with actionable recommendations.
Legal Consultation
Advise on privacy laws and implement actionable guidelines across jurisdictions.
Skills & Qualifications
Law degree with 5+ years of experience in contract reviewing and data privacy and regulatory compliance. Expertise in GDPR, CCPA, India Digital Data Privacy Bill, and other relevant data protection laws. Strong communication, program management, and incident response skills. Ability to monitor privacy trends and adapt policies accordingly.
