Te whanake anamata angitu mō ngā pāmu kau o Aotearoa

We are full of people who have a passion for doing good and creating positive change. We leverage our collective strength by bringing the dairy sector together, helping farmers build more sustainable, profitable and resilient farm businesses, because a strong dairy sector means a strong New Zealand.

Your opportunity

A strong biosecurity system is critical to safeguard and protect the future of New Zealand dairy farming.

At DairyNZ, we are committed to safeguarding the dairy industry through strategic investment, on-farm support, and influencing national biosecurity policy. Our work is critical to the industry’s adaptability, resilience, and long-term sustainability.

As a shareholder and funder of OSPRI, we are at the forefront of initiatives like the eradication of Mycoplasma bovis and TB, providing farmers with the tools to manage biosecurity risks on their farms. As a key partner in the Government Industry Agreement (GIA), we ensure the dairy sector’s voice is heard in critical decisions. Most importantly, we’re dedicated to ensuring that every dollar spent on biosecurity brings real value to our farmers.

As a Biosecurity Adviser, you will be at the heart of our efforts, supporting our Biosecurity team with essential policy analysis, project coordination, and administrative tasks. You’ll engage with both internal stakeholders and external partner organizations to champion our work, and influence theirs. Additionally, you will play a central role in supporting the Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD) Council to deliver a comprehensive FMD readiness work programme.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced biosecurity professional who wants to make a lasting impact as part of a high-performing team.

Key Responsibilities:

Policy analysis and development
Project coordination, reporting, and administration
Farmer and stakeholder engagement
Biosecurity readiness and response activities
About You:

You will have excellent written and verbal communication skills, be a strong self-starter who is comfortable framing issues and working with others to find solutions. You will be highly proficient with business systems, a Microsoft 365 guru, and generally a digitally savvy individual.

Our ideal candidate will have a baseline experience of 1-2 years’ experience in a similar field and have Science based relevant qualifications.

DairyNZ offers:

Competitive remuneration and benefits
A supportive and energetic team
Interesting and exciting work
Development opportunities
If you want to be part of a high performing collaborative team and you can "think outside the box" then this is the role for you!
