NAIT’s Heating Ventilation Air Conditioning Refrigeration (HVACR) Technician certificate program prepares students to commission, design, install, maintain, service and troubleshoot HVAC/R systems in all types of applications. The HVACR program is currently recruiting for a continuous, salaried instructor who is an energetic leader, committed to student success, and has outstanding communication, interpersonal and organizational skills.


The successful candidate will:

Have strong technical knowledge;

be able to work both independently and within a team environment;

bring passion, enthusiasm, and ideas that will positively contribute to the advancement and growth of the program and the culture of our collaborative and dynamic team.


Key Responsibilities:

Prepare and present learning outcomes and activities in a classroom, laboratory and industry setting

Participating in curriculum development, program reviews and course reviews

Facilitate the learning process by utilizing instructional strategies that ensure efficient and effective delivery of course materials

Manage instructional delivery and set the tone and climate for a safe and effective learning environment

Create assessment tools to evaluate the learning process and maintain progress records

Provide early and on-going coaching and tutoring for students to maximize student success and retention

Respond to student issues

Utilize appropriate educational technology for presentations, communications and program promotions

Maintenance and/or submission of program/student records accurately and promptly

Maintain professional and ethical relationships with students, colleagues, and industry partners

Actively participate in the strategies of NAIT’s Strategic Plan and NAIT’s Academic Plan as identified by the institute

Utilize regular student feedback to identify and implement instructional improvement

Improve the quality of instruction through professional development activities

Other duties as assigned

Knowledge of computers


Qualifications:

High School Diploma

Completion of Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Mechanic Alberta Journeyman ticket required

Minimum 5 years of recent industry experience.

Inter-Provincial Red Seal and a Gasfitter A or B would be an asset

Teaching experience an asset


Applicants with education credentials earned outside of Canada should have their credentials evaluated by World Education Services or the International Qualifications Assessment Service (IQAS).


Remuneration: Will commensurate with education and experience, plus a comprehensive benefits package.

Instructor salary grid $65,218.00 - $113,452.00 annually. However, starting salary for new hires averages between $78,++8.00 - $85,88+.00 annually based on education and experience with room for negotiations. (Classification – Instructor).

This position is covered by the NAIT Academic Staff Association (NASA) Collective Agreement.
