Parkland County has an opportunity for a permanent, full-time Data Architect/Database Administrator position in the Technology & Digital Services department. Reporting to the Manager, Business Value Delivery, the Data Architect / Database Administrator oversees database administration, data architecture, and analytics to ensure operational efficiency and strategic alignment. This role manages the County’s database environment, optimizing performance, ensuring security, and integrating new technologies. As the subject matter expert (SME), the position designs and implements scalable, secure, and high-performance data solutions, establishes best practices for data modeling and governance, and drives data-driven decision-making across the organization. Additionally, this role fosters an environment for effective data collection, analysis, and visualization to support County representatives and community partners.

The ideal candidate for this position will have the following:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
ITIL v4, COBIT, and Microsoft Certified Database Administrator certifications would be considered an asset.
A minimum of five (5) to seven (7) years of strong expertise in managing database environments, including performance monitoring, backups, security updates, and troubleshooting.
Proficiency in designing logical and physical data models, schema design, and data normalization.
Proficiency in SQL for querying, transforming, and managing structured and unstructured data.
Experience working with data pipelines, APIs, and ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes.
Knowledge of real-time analytics, AI-driven automation, and emerging technologies in data processing.
Knowledge of cloud platforms (e.g., Azure, AWS, Google Cloud) and big data tools (e.g., Databricks, Snowflake, Hadoop, Fabric).
Possession of a valid class 5 driver’s license and satisfactory driving record.
The total rewards package for this position includes:

A starting annual salary of $+0,500 to $+7,+00, with a maximum earning potential for this pay range of $114,500, based on a 35-hour work week and option to join the Earned Day Off Program.
