In the UK, statutory inspections are legally required assessments of equipment, workplaces, and safety-critical systems to ensure compliance with health and safety regulations. Effective reporting and data management play a crucial role in meeting these legal obligations, improving operational efficiency, and ensuring workplace safety.
As part of our continued growth, we are looking for a Database Developer to enhance and expand our existing database system.
About the Role
We are seeking a Database Developer to support and develop our Microsoft Access database. While the core system is already built, the role involves:
• Enhancing and optimising the existing database.
• Developing new modules to support business operations.
• Creating and maintaining BI (Business Intelligence) and MI (Management Information) dashboards to improve data visibility and decision-making.
• This is a hands-on development role, ideal for someone with strong Access, SQL, API development, and BI skills who thrives on building solutions that improve efficiency and reporting.
Key Responsibilities
• Develop, optimise, and maintain the existing Microsoft Access database.
• Design and build new modules to enhance system functionality.
• Improve database performance, automation, and scalability.
• Develop and maintain BI & MI solutions for enhanced reporting and analytics.
• Create interactive dashboards and reports using BI tools.
• Ensure data integrity, security, and compliance with best practices.
• Provide technical support and troubleshooting for database-related issues.
• Work with stakeholders to understand business needs and translate them into database solutions.
Required Skills & Experience
• Strong experience in Microsoft Access database development.
• Proficiency in SQL – writing queries, stored procedures, and performance tuning.
• Experience with BI & MI tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or similar.
• Ability to design and build new database modules.
• Understanding of data modelling, ETL processes, and database administration.
• Experience in dashboard development and management reporting.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Desirable Skills
• VBA for Access experience.
• Knowledge of Excel (Power Query, Macros, Pivot Tables).
• Familiarity with cloud-based data solutions.
