Job description
Title: Insurance Defense and Civil Litigation Attorney
PRACTICE AREAS: Auto Liability, General Liability, Premises Liability, Medical/Dental Malpractice, Professional Liability
Responsibilities:
1. Analyze legal and factual issues, conduct thorough legal analysis and research and independently develop and present well-founded defense strategies on behalf of clients.
2. Prepare or draft pleadings, discovery requests, depositions, motions, and briefs in support of defense strategies.
3. Conduct depositions of various parties as required by each case.
4. Provide effective and timely communications, information, legal advice, and other services to clients and claims on legal and factual issues.
5. Correspond and coordinate regularly with clients’ adjusters and representatives regarding the status of the case.
6. Liaise professionally with courts, witnesses, opposing counsel, and co-counsel in a manner consistent with established office procedures.
7. Responsible for the prompt, efficient, and effective disposition of assigned cases. • Make court appearances as required.
8. Assist in preparing and presenting witnesses and evidence at trials, hearings, arbitrations, and alternative dispute resolutions.
+. Accurately log and record billable hours and tasks in compliance with firm and client billing guidelines.
10. Achieve monthly billing expectations (average 175 hours per month)
Qualifications:
1. Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an excellent, ABA-approved law school
2. Active membership in good standing with the California State Bar and/or Nevada State Bar
3. Exceptional legal writing skills
4. Excellent written and verbal communication skills
5. Strong analytical abilities with acute attention to detail
6. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced legal environment, managing a caseload with varying deadlines and priorities effectively
7. Must be able to appear in court and attend court hearings either in-person and virtually
8. Proficient knowledge and use of Microsoft Office applications and adeptness with computers, and other legal technology or software
+. Responsive and punctual in all communications
10. Flexibility to appear in court and attend hearings in-person or virtually as required.
11. Mobile and available travel between offices, courtrooms, client meetings, and other legal settings.
12. Must be able to maintain focus over extended periods of time
13. Position requires long, continuous periods of sitting and working at a desk/computer
14. Must be able to read and review high volume of documents and records and type lengthy documents.
15. Demonstrated capability to manage stress and handle high-pressure situations typical of a demanding legal practice
Compensation: $125,000 – $160,000, plus benefits.
