What is the role?
Applications are sought from suitably qualified applicants wishing to be considered for the role of E-Discovery / NUIX Analyst.
On 12 November 2020, the Prime Minister announced the establishment of the Office of Special Investigator (OSI) to investigate the findings from the Inspector-General of the Australian Defence Force's (IGADF) Afghanistan Inquiry. The OSI investigations are headed by the Special Investigator, The Hon Mark Weinberg AO KC.
As a Team Member you will be required to contribute to the achievement of outcomes in accordance with the regulatory framework, the AFP Code of Conduct and the AFP Governance Instruments. It is expected that the successful applicant will deliver on the core responsibilities and meet the requirements of the position as outlined below.
This position will provide operational support to active investigations in data analysis and review, evidence identification and brief preparation. The position is based in the Sydney CBD.
The following framework of conditions:
Team Member will be deployed for a period of 24 months.
Team Member deployed will be assigned to the Operations Working Pattern, attracting a 22% composite, subjected to conditions detailed in the AFP Enterprise Agreement.
Composite OSI Allowance: OSI will fund an additional composite for deployment. This composite is on base salary (exclusive of allowances). Deployment from outside the Greater Sydney Area will be paid a composite allowance of 50% of their base salary (exclusive of allowances) and if resident in Sydney will receive a 25% allowance (on top of the 22% composite, subjected to conditions detailed in the AFP Enterprise Agreement). (Please note OSI allowances are subject to approval and may take some time post engagement to be paid)
What will you do?
As an E-discovery / NUIX Analyst, you will be a highly motivated individual who is able to work effectively and independently in a busy and demanding environment. The E-Discovery I NUIX Analyst will be responsible for assisting investigations, working side by side with fellow digital forensics professionals, investigators, assist with the development of investigation strategies and practical application of technologies to achieve outcomes.
You will be required to have sound technical skills and relevant experience to:
Engage with investigation teams to ensure awareness and assist with the creation of workflow using the technological capabilities available to assist their investigations;
Work closely with the team supervisors and senior managers to support the achievement of strategic outcomes, business planning and process improvements;
Leverage current AFP software to assist with investigations;
Present data in a way that is meaningful to investigators and prosecutors;
Assist with raised problems arising from the management of evidence review;
Understand and document business requirements, objectives and solutions;
Liaise with other capability and service areas to optimize the support provided to investigators;
Problem solve in a collaborative environment;
Liaise with external bodies like the Commonwealth Director of Public Prosecution (CDPP) and the Australian Government Solicitor (AGS) on the generation and integration of briefs between departments;
Manage and educate legal and Investigation teams on the use of Technology Assisted Review;
Support legal and Investigation teams to work with different software applications;
Liaise with clients, external vendors and internal staff at all levels in a respectful manner;
Attend court as an expert witness as required; and
Identify training gaps and assist with the provision of training to investigators.
Essential Requirements
You must be an Australian Citizen at the time of application
A Negative Vetting 1 (Secret) security clearance or the ability to obtain one
Minimum of 1 years' experience in a like or related field
Experience with scripting languages including Python
Advanced MS Office skills, in particular Excel
Ability to problem solve and work collaboratively in a team environment
Strong attention to detail
The ability to identify problems and take measures to rectify them
Effective stakeholder communication
Desirable Requirements
Proven experience using NUIX Workstation, Investigate, software and tools for analysis of complex data in investigations and eDiscovery
Experience with using information enrichment
Technologies relevant tertiary qualifications
NUIX Certification
Additional Information
This position is an AFP Broadband 3-6 level.
The role is located in Sydney, and successful applicants are expected to be based in the Sydney regions or must be willing to relocate to Sydney.
This role is non-ongoing for a period of 24 months.
Proof of a minimum of two COVID-1+ vaccinations (or one dose if the Janssen vaccine was used) will be required if an offer of employment is made.
