Job Description

We are seeking a Financial Aid Coordinator to support students and their families with the financial aid application process. The successful individual will provide outreach to prospective and current students as they navigate through the Federal Student Aid Application or Student Loan Applications. This position is also responsible for assisting with the collection of required financial aid documents needed to complete the financial aid file, as well as assistance with online navigation for completing forms.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Financial Aid Overview:

Coordinates student application process with the Admissions team

Meets with students and families to review the application process

Reviews funding programs

Reviews application process

Discusses Independent versus Dependent

FAFSA Portal/Studentaid.gov:

Offers to guide the student through the process

Answers students’ questions

Contacts students that have not completed the FAFSA to offer assistance

Supports FAFSA Workshops in person and online

PLUS loan pre-approval:

Offers online pre-approval assistance on the web

Contacts parents to remind them to complete the PLUS loan pre-approval

Tracking and Reports:

Monitors new applicants’ application status

Tracks the completion of the FAFSA application

Alerts FA and Admissions directors of “Red Flag” students

Entrance Interview:

Perform student counseling presentations on budgeting and credit and financial aid topics ranging from basic Direct Loan concepts to entrance and exit counseling, as well as delivering dynamic, engaging presentations to students

Loan Counseling:

Provide on-going guidance and assistance to students through meaningful contact and

counseling throughout their grace period/loan repayment

Financial Literacy:

Implement on-going Financial Literacy sessions across campus in a way that ensures 100% participation of active school population

Exit Loan Sessions:

Implement on-going Entrance/Exit Counseling sessions across campus

KNOWLEDGE AND COMPETENCIES:

● Excellent computer skills in a Microsoft Windows environment. Must include Excel and skills in database management and record keeping.

● Ethical - evidence of the practice of a high level of confidentiality.

● Excellent organizational skills.

● Service and Action oriented – does what it takes to meet the expectations of customers.

● Collaborative – enlists information from all sources to ensure the best solution to an issue.

● Basic knowledge of Colleague software.

● Basic knowledge of Federal Student Aid programs.

● Understanding of Default Prevention strategies and techniques.

● Thorough knowledge of Title IV loan programs and all peripherals that support

● Ability to effectively work with others in a team environment.

● Not be in default on a Title IV loan.

EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION:

● High School Graduate or equivalent.

REPRESENTATIVE MACHINES, TOOLS, EQUIPMENT AND/OR SOFTWARE USED:

The following machines, tools, equipment and / or software are commonly, but not always, associated with the performance of this position. Actual machines, tools, equipment and/ or software used will vary.

● Office equipment including, but not limited to, computer, phone, fax machine, copier and calculator.

● Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, Adobe Reader, Power Point, File Maker Pro, ADP, iEmployee

● Company information system applications.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $25.00 - $28.00 per hour
