This position is remunerated at a base salary starting at $81,784.36 per annum plus 11.5 % superannuation.
Great opportunity for a community minded person to ensure the City of Darwin's libraries are spaces that recognise and welcome First Nations people and that programs are established and delivered to increase the number of First Nations people who access library services.
City of Darwin Libraries deliver services to a resident population of over 83,000 as well as large numbers of temporary residents, travellers, and visitors. The four libraries employ approximately 40 staff who service nearly 500,000 visits per annum, maintain a collection of 80,000 items, and provide programs and activities that are attended by 37,000 people. Our Libraries provide a free, safe place to access information, access free Wi-Fi and use computers, charges devices and relax out of the weather.
Reporting to the Senior Coordinator Library Programs & Engagement, the First Nations Library Officer will be responsible for ensuring the City of Darwin Libraries actively engage and encourage the participation of First Nations people in programs and services. This position will play an integral role in identifying and developing programs that will engage First Nations children, youth, adults and seniors and increase their attendance at libraries.
This role will establish a range of measures to increase the recognition of First Nations people and culture within City of Darwin Libraries.
About YOU:
You will have background in events, program development and delivery, community engagement or transferable skills
Knowledge of local environment, connections to local First Nations organisations and businesses.
Library and collection management skills are desirable
POSITION PREREQUISITES
Level 4
Minimum Certificate IV in Community Services, Indigenous Studies, Library studies or minimum 3 years' experience in delivering programs that contribute towards improved outcomes for First Nations Peoples
Working with Children Clearance (NT Ochre card)
Possession of C Class Drivers Licence
Level 5
Minimum Diploma in Community Services, Indigenous Studies, Library studies or minimum 5 years' experience in delivering programs that contribute towards improved outcomes for First Nations Peoples
Working with Children Clearance (NT Ochre card)
Possession of C Class Drivers Licence
