Embark on your transformative journey with Barclays as a Full Stack Software Engineering Lead in the Chief Data and Analytics Office where you’ll play a pivotal role in designing and driving delivery of complex technical solutions. You will grow a new team of Software Engineering and Business Intelligence talent for the bank to successfully harness cutting-edge technology – focussed on building robust, scalable, and secure code, whilst ensuring seamless delivery and prioritisation against business demand. Your role involves engaging with various technology, security, and architecture teams, nurturing engineering talent, completing code reviews and driving the migration to a new cloud platform.

To Be Successful In This Role, You Should Have
• Expert working knowledge of Full Stack development techniques, with the confidence to help and coach senior engineers.
• Hands-on experience with JavaScript (NodeJS, ReactJS/NextJS) or similar, along with underlying infrastructure management.
• Good understanding of Business Intelligence technologies and concepts (Tableau, Power BI and/or Google Looker).
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills demonstrating a collaborative approach across a range of stakeholders, including senior colleagues
• Critical thinking and an ability to drive innovation.

Some Other Highly Valued Skills May Include
• Experience with AWS (with a focus on serverless application architecture)
• Experience in modern development practices (CI/CD, DevOps, Infrastructure as Code, etc.)
• Good understanding of Business Intelligence APIs (i.e. Tableau Embedding API and RestAPI packages).
• Knowledge of service management principles and running a resilient production application.
• Keen interest in UI/UX.

Purpose of the role

To lead and manage engineering teams, providing technical guidance, mentorship, and support to ensure the delivery of high-quality software solutions, driving technical excellence, fostering a culture of innovation, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to align technical decisions with business objectives.

Accountabilities
• Lead engineering teams effectively, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture to achieve project goals and meet organizational objectives.
• Oversee timelines, team allocation, risk management and task prioritization to ensure the successful delivery of solutions within scope, time, and budget.
• Mentor and support team members' professional growth, conduct performance reviews, provide actionable feedback, and identify opportunities for improvement.
• Evaluation and enhancement of engineering processes, tools, and methodologies to increase efficiency, streamline workflows, and optimize team productivity.
• Collaboration with business partners, product managers, designers, and other stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical solutions and ensure a cohesive approach to product development.
• Enforcement of technology standards, facilitate peer reviews, and implement robust testing practices to ensure the delivery of high-quality solutions.
