Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license to qualify for employment in this job classification
Within 12 months of employment in this job classification, employees in this classification must furnish the agency's appointing authority with documentation that he or she holds a valid Class B commercial driver's license
Within one year of employment in this job classification, the employee must complete First Aid and Snow and Ice Training and must possess Traffic Control/Flagger and OSHA 10 Certifications or equivalent
Must maintain any required licensure(s), certification(s), or other credentials for the length of employment in this job classification
Employing agency is responsible for ensuring employee possesses and maintains required licensure(s), certification(s), or other credentials
Must be able to work extended hours and be outside during inclement weather

By joining our District 4 in the Taylor County Unit as a Highway Technician Assistant I in Taylor County, you’ll have the opportunity to take advantage of classroom and in-field trainings to allow for continued education to become specialized in road and construction maintenance and operations
Hauling materials to and from job sites
Operating dump trucks with snowplow and salt spreader to work in the winter months
Operating a tractor-type mowing machine, assist in brush cutting, and use chemical sprayers
Learning and assisting with basic surveying activities on construction projects
Flagging for operations requiring traffic control
Incumbents in this job title typically perform their work at a highway maintenance facility or section office, at work sites throughout the assigned work area, and when necessary, district wide
Incumbent will be exposed to risks inherent to working with large equipment and machines involved with road construction
