The Intelligence Directorate (ID) within The Government Communications Security Bureau (GCSB) has an exciting IT Graduate Programme for those wanting something different. We are looking for intelligent, enthusiastic graduates to join us in protecting and enhancing New Zealand's security and wellbeing.

The Programme:
We are now hiring for our 2026 technical stream; this will suit those with strong skills and/or interest in computer science, data science, telecommunications, engineering (software, systems, network), software development and/or cyber security.

During our ID Technical Graduate programme you will learn more about our industry, and use your analytical and problem solving skills across different parts of ID. Our programme runs over 16 months with four x 4-month rotations within various areas of specialisation.

Before you apply

Working within our unique environment means we have to ensure you're eligible for employment.

You must:
Have been a New Zealand Citizen for at least 10 years

OR

Hold a current NZ Residency Class Visa and ideally have been a citizen of the UK, USA, Canada or Australia for at least 10 years

Be eligible to obtain a Top Secret Special (TSS) security clearance

Ordinarily, this means you'll have a 15 year checkable background in countries NZSIS Vetting can make meaningful and reliable checks.
