The IT Network Administrator, under the direction of the IT Network Manager is responsible for Computer networks. Computer Networks includes, but is not limited to, switches, fiber optic connectivity, wireless technologies, telephony equipment, and other devices connected to or inter-connecting the SOS network. This position requires independent judgment with respect to complex systems and security issues that impact SOS-wide operations. This role requires at minimum 3 days IN-OFFICE. Up to 2 days remote is possible.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Responsible for day-to-day support of network and telecommunication related technologies

• Works priorities, projects and installs of network equipment and software that supports the layer 3 network.

• Facilitates limited workstation support to include advanced configuration of systems, advanced installations, troubleshooting and user training/support.

• Configures, installs, and maintenance of LAN/WAN hardware, software, and telecommunications services such as specific IT software, NextGen firewalls, wireless equipment, cameras, routers, switches, low voltage cabling, Internet connectivity, and other networking related technologies.

• Performs network administration functions to include assessing and resolving problems arising from security, network hardware, network software, and workstation network connectivity. Establishes resolutions in a timely and customer focused manner.

• Identifies and reviews key baseline statistics for network monitoring.

• Analyzes network performance on a routine basis, identifying any potential problem areas.

• Resolves problems in an expeditious manner and makes recommendations for other changes as appropriate.

• Ideally will mentor other IT staff to achieve desired outcomes in support of a 24x7 environment supporting Secretary of State functions.

• Ensures appropriate status and detailed updates are provided to stakeholders where needed.

• Assumes ultimate responsibility for resolving complex system problems, which require extensive research and analysis or originating new techniques due to technological developments.

• Reviews and consults on requirements for systems hardware and network purchases.

• Participates in activities of hardware, software, telecommunications, support, and training vendors.

• Integrates with the Information Security team as needed for investigations and inquiries pertaining to infrastructure security and privacy. • Provides limited workstation support on various system needs such as Microsoft® operating systems, network connectivity, PC hardware, business application software, Microsoft® Office products, and telephony equipment.

• Provides user support, training, and technical assistance to entire organization.

• Provides on-call support to DoIT staff and agency customers.

• Maintains networked systems diagrams and documentation for configuration management and audit purposes including, but not limited to procedures, hardware inventory and network infrastructure.

• Performs vulnerability scanning on critical systems regularly and report gaps to appropriate team leads.

• Interfaces and performs daily tasks assisting the administration of IT services.

• Leads efforts to ensure the network and server system hardware, operating systems, software systems and all related implementation, maintenance and operations procedures comply with IT policies standards.

• As required, install, and configure new hardware and software.

• Maintain logs related to network security operations as well as maintenance, change and repair records.

• Plan, coordinate, and implement network security measures to protect data, software, and hardware.

• Contribute to the safe, fair, and secure elections for the citizens of Georgia.

• Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

AS degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Engineering, or another related field

An equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the minimum level of qualifications stated above will be considered for the 5 years of related experience element listed above. The three (3) years of supporting a full layer 3 networking environment cannot be substituted by formal education alone.

Licenses and Certifications:

CCNA/Networking type certifications are highly desirable. NGFW certifications/training are also a plus.

Valid Class C Georgia Driver’s License and satisfactory motor vehicle record.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor’s degree from a nationally accredited university in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field

• Comp TIA Network+ Certification

• CCIE

In-depth knowledge of advanced routing protocols and network design is highly desirable. CCNA/CCNP certification (or equivalent)

This position requires a background check and finger printing through the FBI/GBI systems.
