WHY DO WE NEED YOU?

The On-Site Infrastructure Systems Technician maintains the server and infrastructure in all Canada by tracking infrastructure activity, performing upgrades of OS software, maintaining server hardware, addressing technical problems, and improving efficiency by evaluating system functions.

On-Site Infrastructure Systems Technician are tasked with ensuring all DSI guidelines and security doctrine are complied with and reporting on global objectives around OSI. On-Site Infrastructure Systems Technician are responsible for managing business/customer needs and expectations and working closely with the business on infrastructure projects.

Day to day activities will include server operations, system development projects, capacity planning, customer relations, and technical documentation. An estimated 20% travel will be required within Canada regularly, minimum US travel.

Main responsabilities:

Support, manage, develop, implement, and troubleshoot on-site infrastructure, including NetBackup server, NetApp server, Windows Servers, and Linux servers.
Provide support for local data rooms at remote locations.
Ensure compliance of all infrastructure with DSI Security doctrine, including business infrastructures.
Manage the Manage Print program for North America.
Monitor infrastructure using SG standard monitoring solutions.
Conduct disaster recovery testing for all critical on-site infrastructure and document results for stakeholders.
Handle and describe incidents, ensuring proper monitoring and resolution prioritization.
Manage service requests, including major or minor changes, and oversee their implementation.
Participate in change management processes and incident resolution by providing technical support.
Lead local technical committees to address operational needs.
Maintain technical assets following Saint-Gobain standards and ensure inventory updates and documentation.
Assist in technical scoping for functional needs and participate in solution implementation projects.
Draft and develop operational records, including procedures, scripts, and interfaces.
Monitor system resource usage and performance through technical indicators to ensure capacity planning.
Address customer needs, complaints, and satisfaction measures, building trust through interactive communication.
Your profile:

Four-year Bachelor’s degree/college diploma in the field of computer science or 5 -7 years’ equivalent work experience. Work experience consists of managing and configuring enterprise infrastructure solutions and equipment.
5+ years’ experience managing and configuring enterprise network infrastructure solutions and equipment.
Bilingual in French/English preferred
Skills and attributes that are essential for this position are strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment and make sound decisions in emergency situations. The OSI System Tech will need to be able to solve various software and equipment failure problems. 75% of the problems will be standard IT problems that occur in other industries. The remaining 25% of the problems are specific to Saint Gobain and will require unique solutions.
The incumbent will have responsibilities to analyze and resolve problems related to On Site Infrastructure and Industrial Infrastructure. These problems will be reported through the user service desk or will be identified by the incumbent. The position will require specific training and knowledge to enable cause/effect analysis and ample know-how for the incumbent to resolve the problem independently or contact the proper resource to assure a timely resolution.
Key technologies include Microsoft Server Operating Systems, VMWare, Server hardware support and configuration.
Ability to travel 20% to sites and locations in Canada.
Bilinguism (French and English) will be a great asset
