JOB INFO
As the Journeyperson Carpenter you are expected to be engaged in our safety program, executing work in a safe manner, in adherence with CANA policies and all applicable code regulations and the Act.
The work requires commuting to and from the job site daily.
The position requires physically demanding motions and tasks.
Candidates are required to be in good physical condition, fit for work and prepared to work on project sites outside in all seasons and weather.
YOU WILL
Read and interpret drawings/blueprints and/or take instructions from site supervisors.
Prepare layouts in conformance to building codes, using measuring tools.
Complete all tasks ensuring they are level, square, plumb and the right size.
Rough carpentry, formwork, hoarding.
Fit and install trim items such as doors, stairs, molding and hardware.
Be competent in:
Safe rigging of loads and hand signals
Use of site hand and power tools,
Reading and understanding blueprints
Layout and be able to use a builder’s level.
Use of AWP, Scissor list and other access means such as scaffold.
Maintaining a safe and clean work area
YOU WILL NEED
Canadian Journeyman Carpentry Certificate and competent in the Carpentry Trade
Valid Driver’s License or means of transportation to project sites.
Strong communication and problem-solving skills
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment while working as part of a team.
A good understanding and/or ability to find information as needed in the OH&S regulations.
