Kafka Engineer

Job description
What does a successful Kafka Engineer do at Fiserv ?
• Designing and implementing Kafka solutions, preferably Cloudera that include High Availability and Disaster Recovery.
• Reviewing Monthly Patches and Fixes for Cloudera services.

What will you do:
• Enterprise-class experience implementing and configuring solutions using Kafka with Cloudera Data Platform.
• Experience using GitLab or equivalent CI/CD tools.
• Upgrading Cloudera Manager and Cloudera Data Hub/Cloudera Data Platform to the latest version. Creating automated solutions via scripting and utility development using Ansible, YAML, Salt, and shell scripts.
• Experience working on tools such as Kafka Connect, Schema Registry, Flink, Cruise Control, Spark, Snowflake, Streams Replication Manager or Mirror Maker 2.0, NiFi.
• Experience working with multiple teams consisting of a variety of Infrastructure Engineering groups, as well as Development groups and Client Relationship groups.
• Willingness and capability of quickly learning new technologies required for accomplishing project goals.

Experience in managing Kafka deployments with external client integrations.
• Experience in Production Support environments and rotational shifts and on-call rotation.

What will you need to know:
• 6 to 7 years of experience on Kafka and related systems.
• Experience Supporting the existing Event Streaming (Kafka) platforms.
• Experience and assistance in installation of new Event Streaming Services (Kafka) platforms.
• Builds best practices and ensures adoption of secure development and automation of development and deployment.
• Experience assisting the application and development staff with questions and support of the environments, as the next level of escalation.

What would be great to have:
• Experience operating and configuring Java.
• Infrastructure/System Engineering experience on Cloud Platforms such as Azure, AWS, PCF Containers, Microsoft Windows and RedHat Linux platforms.
• Hands-on experience of handling and maintaining the directory structure and the permissions of Linux file systems and HDFS paths.
• Experience with monitoring tools Splunk, AppDynamics, DynaTrace.
• Experience with integration with databases such as Oracle, MS SQL Server.
