About the Role
Join our team in a hands-on, driven role, particularly supporting men returning from overseas or prison. This position involves working closely with mostly tāne to help them reintegrate into society. You'll take a practical approach in areas such as accommodation, education, training, and family reconnection, while also guiding them through cultural reintegration. Advanced knowledge of Tikanga and confidence in Te Ao Māori alongside providing tāne perspectives, are highly valuable for success in this role.
Key Responsibilities:
Work directly with returning male tangata, motivating and empowering them to rebuild their lives.
Lead initiatives that support accommodation, employment, and cultural reconnection.
Offer one-on-one support and mentorship to men facing challenges post-deportation or imprisonment.
Requirements:
A Level 4 qualification in community services, mental health, or a similar field; transferable skills from fields like corrections, social work, or defense are highly valued.
Strong leadership, problem-solving, and motivational skills to encourage positive change in others.
Confidence in setting clear boundaries and working independently.
A solid understanding of Tikanga Māori and cultural awareness.
High attention to detail and the ability to manage complex situations with patience and resilience.
Full NZ driver’s license.
Desirable
Experience in Reintegration Services, Corrections, or Justice Sector.
Strong connections with Iwi, Māori, and Pasifika communities.
Experience working with diverse cultural backgrounds.
