Job Description

Auckland Council Libraries are welcoming applications for a Library & Council Services Assistant with a strong interest in supporting children and young people through engaging programmes, events and inclusive library services. This role contributes to creating safe, welcoming spaces where communities can connect, learn and belong.


He angitūtanga: The opportunity

This is a fixed-term role until May 2027, based primarily at Tupu Youth Library, working as part of a supportive and community-focused team within Libraries & Council Services.

You’ll play an important role in supporting and delivering library programmes and events, particularly those focused on tamariki and rangatahi, while also providing friendly, customer-focused library and council services. You’ll help ensure our library spaces are welcoming, inclusive and responsive, and work flexibly across locations within the Ōtara–Papatoetoe Local Board area.


This opportunity is ideal for someone who enjoys working with young people, supporting community programmes, and contributing as a reliable and supportive team member.

You’re approachable, adaptable and enjoy working with people. You’ll bring:

Experience engaging with children and/or young people, or supporting programmes and activities
A strong customer-service mindset and genuine interest in supporting others
The ability to work collaboratively as a supportive and reliable team member
Confidence engaging with diverse communities and cultures
Willingness to learn and grow your understanding of te reo Māori, tikanga and Te Tiriti o Waitangi
