• Manage transportation logistics, including freight forwarding, shipping, and customs clearance.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including suppliers, customers, and regulatory agencies.
• Monitor inventory levels and implement effective inventory management strategies to minimize stockouts and excess inventory.
• Oversee overall logistics operations and resolve any arising problems or complaints.
• Evaluate and select logistics service providers and negotiate contracts to ensure cost-effective and reliable transportation services.
• Identify areas for process improvement and implement solutions to enhance logistics efficiency and reduce costs.
• Monitor and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) for the team.
• Lead and motivate a team of logistics professionals, providing guidance, training, and performance feedback.
• Collaborate with sales and marketing teams to forecast demand and plan logistics operations accordingly.
• Responsible for end-to-end import & export clearances and the movement of material from warehouses across the globe.
• Supervise value-added services like re-packing and re-labeling according to customer requirements.
• Manage third-party warehouses to store material safely and coordinate distribution within India.
• Coordinate proactively with clearing agents to clear shipments on time without incurring demurrages and detention.
• Timely capture all logistics movements/transactions in the ERP system and coordinate with the finance & accounts team to validate invoices from warehouses & agents to ensure on-time payment.
• Explore adding new agents and warehouses.
• Handle freight inquiries for the overall company, whether from the sales team or for firm orders, to achieve year-over-year (YoY) targets for ocean freight reduction.
• Implement digital tools to enable the sales & logistics team to access valid freight costs for any routes to execute orders quickly at less cost.
• Comply with laws, regulations, and ISO requirements.
Experience and Qualifications:
• Certification or degree in International Trade & Logistics is preferred.
• Minimum 10 years of experience in logistics.
• Proven working experience as a logistics professional.
Skill Requirements:
• Strong knowledge and hands-on experience in end-to-end local and international logistics in the chemical industry.
• Knowledge of ERP systems and MS Office (excellent skills in MS Excel preferred).
• Ability to work independently and handle multiple projects.
